Nickel Chloride is an inorganic nickel salt used in electrochemical processing, catalyst preparation, nickel salt manufacturing, metal finishing and specialty chemical formulations. Commercial Nickel Chloride may be supplied in anhydrous or hydrated form, with Nickel(II) Chloride Hexahydrate being a commonly supplied crystalline grade. Anhydrous Nickel(II) Chloride has the molecular formula NiCl₂, CAS number 7718-54-9 and molecular weight approximately 129.60 g/mol. Nickel(II) Chloride Hexahydrate is a separate hydrated form with the molecular formula NiCl₂·6H₂O, CAS number 7791-20-0 and molecular weight approximately 237.69 g/mol.
